Happy 4th of July
Lexington and the Rockbridge area has so much to offer each month. It is my hope to provide you with a list of fun happenings around town. Each month, I will highlight events, links to local community calendars, spotlight local business, and feature new real estate.

Boxerwood Bird Walk
July  1st 8:00 - 10:00 AM
Members of the Rockbridge Bird Club invite bird enthusiasts to join them the first-Saturday of every month to go birding at Boxerwood. Local birding experts aid people of all ages and skill levels in locating, identifying, and bird song interpretation. As many as 85 species of birds have been identified during past walks.
Lime Kiln Theater Presents: July 1st 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
 Lime Kiln Theater's 2017 Summer Concert Series continues with An Evening with Love Canon. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
Lexington Rotary
Fireworks and Festival
July 2nd 2:00 - 9:00 PM

With food and drink vendors, music, beer garden, and fireworks, this will be good family fun at the Horse Center. Come and picnic, hear Sara Jane McDonald and the renowned band, Wannabeatles, and watch the best fireworks display in Rockbridge County. Fireworks will go rain or shine. Gates open 2 p.m. Fireworks at dark. Only fee is $5.00 per car for parking. Handicap parking available.

Southern Inn Restaurant Pop Up
July 2nd 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
The Southern Inn restaurant will be doing a pop up event at
Great Valley Farm Brewery.

Balloons Over Rockbridge 5K July 4th 8:00 - 11:00 AM
 The Balloons Over Rockbridge July 4th 5K run/walk is benefiting Veterans Organization Team RWB and Relay for Life of Rockbridge County (American Cancer Society). It is a 5K course that winds around the scenic Virginia Horse Center outside historic Lexington, VA. It is a family friendly run/walk that kicks off the July 4th celebration that includes Hot Air Balloons, live local music, rescue squad competitions, beer/wine tents, kids activities, and much more! 
Annual July 4th
Children's Bike Parade

Bring the kids and help them decorate their bikes, scooters and strollers before heading down Main Street to enjoy free hot dogs at the end of the parade.

Decorating begins at Rockbridge Regional Library at 9:30am.  At 11am, the parade moves from the library down Main Street winding up at Washington and Lee "Quad" on Jefferson St.

Hot dogs, watermelon, lemonade and it's all FREE for kids! Small fee for refreshments for adults.

First Fridays Lexington Downtown July 7th
5:00 PM - 7:30 PM
 Galleries along Washington St. FREE!
Come stroll through the galleries along Washington Street and enjoy art, music and tastings!
Featuring local produce, honey, baked goods, meats, eggs, crafts, and much more!

Greater Vision Gospel Festival
July 13th 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM
The Greater Vision Gospel Festival is a three-night southern gospel music festival that is free for the entire family.

 Friday’s Alive is the premier summer staple of Lexington community entertainment. The Lexington-Rockbridge Jaycees will once again host FREE outdoor concerts in gorgeous Davidson Park.
Lime Kiln Theater
July 21st 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
 Lime Kiln Theater's 2017 Summer Concert Series continues as The Festy Presents: An Evening with The Infamous Stringdusters. Tickets are $27 in advance or $30 at the door.
Beach Music Festival & Classic Car Show
July 28 - July 29, 2017

Music begins under the pavilion (rain or shine) on Friday night, 6:30 p.m. with the high energy beach music group, The Entertainers! Saturday kicks off at 8 a.m. with a classic car show featuring over 150 classic cars. Viewing is free for spectators with a entry fee in the trophy awarded car show.

Concerts begin at 12 noon on Saturday once again under the pavilion (rain or shine) with award winning Band of Oz, Gary Lowder and "Smokin Hot," and the Blackwater Rhythm & Blues Band.
